Morley Finish Off the Night Series

28 Mar 2024

Windmills Down Maccabi

In the late game at Paintseal Arena, Morley managed to get through Maccabi SC with a last minute 3-2 winner.

After Maccabi raced to a 2-0 lead in the first half hour, through goals from Dion Berman from the spot and Robert Pattison, Morley managed to drag one back just before half time from the Frenchman Yohan Pubill on his debut for the club. Maccabi could not clear their lines as Pubill was waiting on the edge of the box after a cross and he slotted truly through a crowd of players in the box.

Six minutes after the break Morley equalised with Louis D'Annuzio after Maccabi again could not deal with a cross into the box from a corner, with D'Annuzio reacting quickest to put it in the back of the net.

Windmills then sealed the tie in the final minute with Sebastiano Scriva finishing neatly into the bottom corner after passing three Maccabi defenders. Morley finished the game with 10 men after Ronan Roarty was sent off in stoppage time.

"After an average first half we were really pleased with the second half comeback against a competitive Maccabi side." Morley coach Dan Evans said. "There were some strong performances from the group and I feel over the course of 90 minutes we deserved the result. However, our main focus is on continuing to prepare for round one."

Morley finished second in the Belt Up Amateur Night Series table to Jaguar FC on goal difference after Jags lost earlier in the day to North Perth United 3-2.

All in all a good few outings for the lads as they now look ahead to the Amateur Cup and more importantly the Amateur Premier League in what we hope to be a big year for the club in terms of moving forward.
